A busy week for us!

This week has been a busy one.  On Wednesday we went on our trip to Mapua to visit the aquarium and the wetlands.  The trip was a great way to cap off our Ocean unit.  We saw lots of interesting things and got to touch.  Judy's highlight was touching the stingray.

We did a wonderful job taking assembly on Friday.  Some of us introduced things speaking into a microphone, and we all helped with our dance display and singing.

The Ocean

As part of our ocean study Jenny took us for an art lesson about hot and cold colours.  We could choose the hot or cold table to paint our fish.  We decided to put them on the wall with a speech bubble.  Judy was very pleased with the way we tried to give people a message about responsible fishing.  Here's some of our work.

And then there was this one........

Circuits are fun to make.

On Monday we went to the science room to use electricity to make a circuit.
We used crocodile clips to connect the wires.  We had to press really hard to open the crocodile clips.  If we joined them up the light would glow or the motor would turn.  Something funny happened.  One of the motors got caught up in Hayley's hair.  We had to cut it out!  We used batteries to supply us with electricity.

Montessori Visits Us

Today children from Nelson Montessori visited us.  We showed them our junior playground and let them have a turn.  After play we set up some activities for them to try.  We ended the visit by having lunch together.  We hope our visitors enjoyed their visit and got to see a little of school life.
